Meet the Man Chosen to Lead Us! Rev. Dr. Richard Cobble
![]() Doctor Richard is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and the oldest of 13 siblings. He was ordained at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta on May 11, 1985 by Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Roberts Jr. He served under the leadership of Dr. Roberts for 20 years. This Atlanta Community Activist holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. He also holds a Master of Divinity Degree and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Cobble was declared “Bishop Elect” by the 2005 Holy Convocation of the National Omega True Vine Pentecostal Holiness Church of God, Inc. in Darlington, SC. His responsibilities involved overseeing the administrative policy and procedure concerned credentials of ministers and church and to ensure compliance with National requirement for the Holy Convocation. Dr. Cobble many honors and awards include the CBC Unsung Hero Award (1999), the Federal Employee of the Year Award (1992), and the Department of the Army Humanitarian Awards (1991), Special Act Award from US Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, GA (1987). Also, he holds the jasper Williams Preaching Award of the Morehouse School of Religion (1985); and the Bronze Star Medal for military service and action in Vietnam (1970). Dr. Cobble is further noted for his distinguish retirement from the US Army (1978) and U.S. Federal Employment (2000). Since being elected as the Vice-President of Mission for Concerned Black Clergy of Metro Atlanta, Inc. (CBC) in December 2003, Dr. Cobble has enabled Concerned Black Clergy to assess and reassess Collaborative efforts that promotes total community partnership for confronting homelessness and hunger. Therefore, he works vigorously with the new Team Leadership of Concerned Black Clergy for being on the cutting edge to develop workable solution that should facilitate change in business transactions for ending homelessness. |
